For a toy themed loop animation project I based my animation on a piece of toy popular among boys in the 1960s: Corgi's Aston Martin DB5 playset from the James Bond series. One of the reasons the toy car was considered a 'classic' is its play feature: Its inclusion of a metal figurine of the Korean henchman from Goldfinger, the one character most known for being ejected from the passenger seat in the movie. It was common for Asian characters in Hollywood movies to be portrayed as faceless goons for the majority of the 20th century, perhaps a conception rooted in the idea of 'cheap Asian labor', yet the commidified version of this particular character has become nothing but cheap -- Since most of the figurines were lost during the countless ejections from the toy vehicles, one prestine copy would cost one up to 200 dollars nowadays. One example of the power of consumerism.
